What To Expect

A Clear, Predictable Experience

Starting something new can feel uncertain. This page explains what a visit looks like at Yin & Yang Acupuncture, so you know what to expect before you arrive.

Care is paced intentionally, with clear communication and respect for comfort, consent, and individual needs.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax

Eat a light meal beforehand if possible

Arrive a few minutes early to settle in Bring any questions or concerns — there is time to talk

There is no need to prepare in a special way. If you are unsure about anything, you are welcome to ask before or during your visit.

AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR SESSION

Your visit begins with a conversation.

We’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’re hoping to address, and any concerns you may have. This discussion helps guide care, but you are never required to share more than you’re comfortable with.

Treatment options are explained clearly before anything begins. Nothing is done without discussion and consent.

DURING TREATMENT

Acupuncture uses very thin, sterile, single-use needles. Sensations vary — some people feel very little, while others notice warmth, heaviness, or gentle pressure.

You are always in control:

You can ask questions at any time You can request adjustments You can stop treatment at any point

Some people prefer quiet rest during treatment, while others prefer conversation. Both are fine — your preference guides the session.

Supportive techniques such as cupping or guā shā may be used only when appropriate and discussed in advance.

AFTER THE SESSION

After treatment, people often report feeling relaxed, calm, or clear-headed. Mild soreness or fatigue can occur and usually resolves quickly.

You’ll be given simple guidance if needed, such as hydration or rest. There is no pressure to schedule additional visits — follow-up is always your choice.

PACE, COMFORT & CONSENT

Care at Yin & Yang Acupuncture is collaborative.

Sessions are structured and predictable, but always adaptable. Nothing is added without discussion, and treatment is guided by comfort, readiness, and patient choice.

If something doesn’t feel right, it can be adjusted or stopped — no explanation required.

This depends on individual goals and responses. Recommendations may be offered, but there is no obligation.

Care is never rushed, forced, or upsold.

The goal is to support regulation, comfort, and recovery at a pace that feels right for you.
